Photographed at Carvers Gap, (North Carolina-Tennessee border), this has become one of my favorite places to practice my photography. The rolling mountains offer amazing compositions for sunrise or sunset, and the old-growth forest makes for mystical scenes. On this frigid winter morning – single digits with windchill – there was not a cloud in the sky. The contrast of the empty sky and the mountain tops meeting in the middle made for an interesting dynamic. It’s as though the mountains and sky are working in perfect harmony, creating simplistic beauty.
